Janhavi Mistry

PSYCHOLOGIST
She/Her

Janhavi works at Symmetry on Mondays and Fridays. She has a particular interest in supporting individuals experiencing mood disorders such as anxiety and depression, stress management and trauma. She is also passionate about working with migrant populations, especially women, as well as busy professionals and students navigating the pressures of work and life balance. Janhavi is LGBTQIA+ inclusive and enjoys working with clients who identify in these ways.

Janhavi’s background includes working in both private and community settings. In her practice, Janhavi takes a psychobiosocial and person-centred approach. She is trained in Schema therapy, Acceptance Commitment therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, and is currently expanding her skills in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT).

Using a collaborative and empowering style, Janhavi works alongside her clients with the belief that they are the experts of their own lives. She provides practical tools and strategies to help clients reduce distress, build confidence, and improve their quality of life. A session with Janhavi is collaborative and strengths-based, helping clients feel both supported and curious about their own growth. Her goal is to foster agency and self-awareness so that each client leaves with a greater sense of empowerment in their life.

Janhavi is interested in helping people explore how we can make choices that align with our values and develop a greater sense of agency & empowerment in our lives. How we can look after our wellbeing while striving towards our ambitions, maintaining high performance, and managing the competing demands of modern life drives her. She views therapy as a space to understand the experiences that have shaped us, explore patterns that may no longer be serving us, and make room for our strengths, achievements, and existing wisdom.

Janhavi recognises that identity, culture, migration, family systems, and broader social factors can influence how we experience both distress and resilience. She is interested in exploring how these experiences shape us and how we can navigate them in ways that feel meaningful and empowering. Janhavi aims to create a space where stories, experiences, and perspectives can be explored with curiosity, compassion, and respect.

Outside of therapy, Janhavi enjoys walking, spending time outdoors, and resistance training.
